24 hours curfew in yobe

The Joint Security Task Force (JTF) in
Yobe State has imposed a 24-hour
curfew in Potiskum local government
area of the state, saying that the new measure took
effect from Monday, August 5, 2013.
The JTF stated this yesterday in a statement issued by
the Yobe State Joint Task Force (JTF) spokesman, Eli-
Lazaru, in Damaturu, the state capital.
Lazaru also urged residents to remain calm and
cooperate with security agencies by remaining indoors.
According to him, the residents of Potiskum local
government town would remain indoors until the
curfew is lifted.
He said that the JTF wished to appreciate the patience
and cooperation of members of the general public
with security agents, saying that cooperation and
timely provision of information by people across the
state had helped the JTF in its task of ensuring peace
and security.
The JTF also urged the general public not to relent in
reporting any suspicious movements in their
communities or neighbourhoods and to continue to
assist and cooperate with security agents in the
interest of peace and security.
He called on the general public and entire people of
the state to contact the JTF in the case of any breach
of security in their areas.
